Tot 21 April

Ek blaai deur From Largo to Larminier , A Memoir in 31 Scenes van Margaretha Deysel Stemmet, 'n kennis uit my kindertyd in Springs. 'n Wonderlike belewenis!

Paging through From Largo to Larminier , A Memoir in 31 Scenes by Margaretha Deysel Stemmet, an acquaintance from my childhood past in Springs. She had a successful career as an opera soprano in Austria and we got reacquainted some years ago on the web. James Marais, another contemporary from Springs, joined the conversation from North Carolina, where he now resides. I had just received the publication that morning from Hans, following their visit to South Africa,

Also enclosed was a large print Afrikaans Family Bible; having lost ours in the flood of October 30.

Meanwhile my 'cabinet factory' got started in the garage but was interrupted two weeks ago by Mike when he showed up for some landscaping, involving much filling work.

By nightfall that Saturday we were exhausted and had to call it quits. The next step is for the concrete driveway to go in but incessant rain hampered progress for at least two weeks. It may happen this week (April 25) after which Mike can resume his efforts.

Two weeks ago the New Braunfels Historical Society had its annual festivities at the historical park. A friend of ours, Bill Jones,  is a bagpipe teacher and performer, who invited us to the event. Susan got carried away with the camera.

With Bill.

Meanwhile, there was some progress in the garage.

And with Susan's plants at the Willard's as well.

Kitchen and bathroom cabinets were completed and await installation, while the painting crew is wrapping up inside. It may happen this week.

Hierdie week was Red Snapper op afslag by HEB, wat my aangespoor het om die Willard's vir ete op hulle patio te nooi. Hier is 'n paar foto's van my en Susan se poging.

Red Snapper was on sale last week and we invited the Willard's to dinner on their patio. Some shots of our efforts,

Susan se wandeling in die biblioteektuin.

Susan wandered through the library garden at Canyon Lake.
